Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI)
IFAI is a nonprofit trade association that serves 2,000 individual and company members involved in the global specialty fabrics marketplace. IFAI operates 10 product divisions and three country-specific divisions conducting targeted programs and conferences for specialty fabrics products manufacturers. IFAI is headquartered in Roseville, Minn.
IFAI supports and augments the geosynthetics industry with these contributions:
- Promotes the Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA), a central resource for the industry and forum for the development of specification and standardization.
- Publishes the industry-leading Geosynthetics magazine and other journals.
- Collaborates with the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS), North American Geosynthetics Society (NAGS) and the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI).
Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA)
GMA was founded in the 1960s to educate the user community on the technical and economic benefits of geosynthetics, with the goal of building stronger civil infrastructures in a cost-efficient manner. GMA has contributed more than $4 million into programs for the industry, including the development of:
- Government relations
Since its inception, geosynthetics use has expanded into nearly all areas of civil, geotechnical, environmental, coastal and hydraulic construction. Its industry events provide networking opportunities and exposure to the industry for engineers, specifiers, contractors, government agencies and academics.
Southwest Geotechnical Engineers Conference (SWGEC) is one of the most successful geotechnical technology transfer activities of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This conference is considered one of the best and most productive technical sessions of the year. The GRI-25 Conference will also take place at Geosynthetics 2013.
